Australian-born Johnny Klimek began his musical career as the bass player for ’80s pop outfit The Other Ones. Over the years, Johnny capitalized on his pop sensibilities and innate musicianship to successfully evolve into a world-renowned producer and remix artist. Johnny has continued to expand his musical range by composing scores for numerous film and television projects that evoke the distinctive soundscapes of an unparalleled talent. His extraordinary career has spawned the musical heartbeat to such cultural phenomena as the highly acclaimed film sensation Run Lola Run and countless dance floor hits in collaboration with electronic music titans including Laurent Garnier and Paul Van Dyk.

Johnny spent four years in the limelight with The Other Ones after signing with Virgin records in 1987. Two albums later, the group disbanded at the culmination of their worldwide chart success. Johnny took advantage of the transition to start his own studio in Berlin where he established himself as a respected producer/remixer for acts including Matador, New Order, Inspiral Carpets, and Henry Rollins.

Dance music exploded onto the European scene at the turn of the decade and Johnny seized the moment by forming the production outfits System 01 and EFFECTIVE FORCE with Paul Browse (Clock DVA) The eclectic pool of talented contributors including Robert Anton Wilson and world-famous, psychedelic guru Timothy Leary.  Johnny built himself a name by providing cutting-edge re-mixes and production for both underground and established electronic artists including Blake Baxter, Malaria, Laurent Garnier, Gudrun Gut’s Ocean Club, Blixa Bargeld, Dr. Motte, Paul van Dyk and DJ Cle.

Johnny’s reputation as a film and television composer arose from his partnership with Berlin-based producer Reinhold Heil and ensuing work with cult German film director Tom Tykwer. Collaborating under the name Pale 3, Johnny co-wrote, and co-produced the critically acclaimed and highly evocative soundtracks for The Princess and The Warrior, Run Lola Run and Winter Sleepers. The Run Lola Run soundtrack has sold nearly 1 million units worldwide, fueled by the smash single Wish (a Top 10 hit in Germany). For The Princess and The Warrior, the Pale 3 team pushed the creative envelope by creating a stand-alone soundtrack featuring guest vocalists including Louise Rhodes from Lamb, Beth Hirsh from Air, and renowned vocalists Skin, and Alison Goldfrapp.

Throughout this period, Klimek’s solo work also flourished. He was instrumental in creating the soundtracks for films including MeschuggeAbsolute GigantenLiebesluder, and Harte  Jungs. Recently, Klimek has extended his partnership with producer Heil to collaborate on the scores for numerous projects including Tangled, the Showtime original Bang, Bang You’re Dead and the FX original Big Shot: Confessions of a Campus Bookie. They have also continued to produce influential music in the electronic and dance arenas including the remix of the theme from the hit television show, Survivor.
